Does anyone have information where I could buy/borrow/rent the gauge to check for dipper clearance for a 34 207? Going to rebuild my engine over the winter and am trying to round up the specialized tools needed. I fount a variety of Kent-Moore gauges but nothing for 34. Also looking for the gauge to align the oil tubes to the trough for the dippers. I have seen this question asked before on older posts so I just wanted to bring it current.
Thanks,
Chuck

Steve at the FS had some dipper gauges, and would rent them out. There was a pretty hefty deposit on them to insure their return. I do not know if he had one for a 34.

If you can not find a gauge the depth the dippers dip into the oil and be measured by filling the trough with grease. The with the pan installed (with a gasket) and truning over the engine you can measure how deep the dippers dip into the grease.

Thank you. From an earlier post I read that the depth should be 17/64th for a 207 so I'll go with that. Appreciate the help!

For checking the oil delivery tubes you can try putting some modeling clay in the troughs on the side of the oil pan, say the first half inch at the pan flange. Then put a very small piece of tape over each tube and trim cleanly to not have a big wad of tape on the end, this will keep the clay out of the tube hole. Install pan gaskets temporarily with four alignment studs and tighten the pan screws just enough. When you take the oil pan off you should have an imprint in the modeling clay of the oil delivery tube . If I recall the imprint will be just enough, not real deep.
