as you know old car are easy to open the hood. the battery can be stolen very fast or car can be started very easy with a jumper wire and a screwdriver.
i fixed a eye bolt on my 54 chevy hood latch so it has to be backed off before the latch can move. this will not stop a real thief but will help slow one down . hope i can post a picture how to do it( easy to do) on here never done it before.

I have to ask this,,,,,, is stealing battery's a problem where you live? I grew up in The Bronx, that was a problem in the late 60's and 70's but that was the Bronx but not now even in the Bronx.... I have not heard of that being problem in 40 years, and I am a NYC guy
Secondly what is someone going to do with a 6 volt battery?

I had a battery stolen out of my opel GT about 20 years ago, wife Jeep Cherokee was stolen this year, luckily it was found before they could strip it.these dope heads will steals anything to get a fix.
they can get 15 to 20 dollars for battery at a pawn shop.

my 54 has 12volt battery,i just feel a little better at ease parked in a shopping center lot or at a motel over night.

a chain on the hood and a padlock goes a long way to keeping your battery in your car and not on somebodys pawn shop counter

How did they get the hood open on the Jeep to get to the battery?, that has a factory hood release system and they still got your battery

Sounds like the Jeep was stolen, not just the battery in the Jeep.

Thanks for clearing that up! If I were him I would be a little more selective where I shop or places I spend the night to avoid those situations

That's a great idea! A little easier than chaining down the hood and you don't have to worry about the chain and lock rattling. Anything that slows them down helps. I also put a club steering wheel lock on with the wheels turned when I park. Good luck getting that onto a rollback.

Nothing stops a pro but my son got his bike back thanks to a lo-jack transmitter.

36nut, thanks for the pic.
Simple in design, but effective.

Thank you.
