Installing your hinges can be confusing since each is specific to only one side of the car.
For 1941 it was possible to install them on the wrong sides. Someone with more experience should be able to tell you if the 1948 hinges can be confused. If you install them incorrectly you will find that it is impossible to eliminate the 3/8" to 1/2" gap where the hood meets the top of the firewall. Best practice is to label which side the hinge was originally installed on.
"Been there done that" caused me to spend hours attempting to align my hood. I have also seen a pair of hinges that were cut and rewelded to improve the hood fit.
Good luck, Mike
