Are the ignition wires on a 1955 Bel Air supposed to be with straight boots or angled boots for the spark plugs? Are the boots black or a reddish orange color?

I don't know the answer but it might help if you specify if a 6 or 8 cylinder and a car or truck.

In reading the Danchuk catalog it appears that reddish orange boots were used on late 56 ignition wires.The reason for my question was that I had just received a set of wires that had the orange red boots on them. I could send them back, but I wondered if I might just paint the boots black with a black bumper paint? I have painted ignition wires before with lacquer, but they were not rubber wires. What are your thoughts? Would the paint stick to the rubber boots? Would it blister off with heat?

The vendor agreed to take them back. This afternoon a friend came by with a correct set he had tucked away. Thanks for the help guys.
