Aren't there supposed to be washers under the screws that hold down points and condensers? There are none on my 40. Seems like there should be.

Never seen washers on the hold down screws. But yes on the wire screw.

I have only seen metal washers on the fixed point (to lock down the adjustment) and condensor, these parts need a good earth. The moving point should be insulated from the rest of the distributor, the other end is connected to the coil negative terminal. Tony
