The 1951 Chevrolet Accessories Installation Manual shows how install the fuel filter kit.

The picture in Figure 50 (page 19) seems to show the filter connected directly in line to the fuel inlet on the carburetor. That is the way I remember seeing them installed.

However the diagram in Figure 51 and the written instructions refer to installing a 60 degree fitting into the carburetor which points the filter towards the engine.

Can anyone offer any details about this?

Thanks,

Rusty

This was recommended to shorten the gas line to make up for adding the filter. The front loop of the gas line was also modified. This eleminated cutting and re-double flaring of the line.

Hi Gene,

I just found the old posts between you and Lonnie C. about these fuel filters.

It definitely answered a lot of questions including a note about availability of the 60 degree fitting. It is not available new.

Thanks,

Rusty

For your 1937 I would just cut the steel gas line and shorten it as it is not flared and you can install a new nut and sleve.

Thanks Gene. I agree with that simple installation.
