I am trying to determine if a starter from a '63 292 will fit a '56 ?ci. I know I wont be able to keep the pedal start( I wish I could though), but I dont know what else to do.Can anyone help ?

HI Mud,

Based on your post, I take it that the original starter has gone to Chevy Heaven.

If you need assistance with a "rebuild" to correct factory performance and appearance - let me know - I can set this up.

The 292 is a newer casting block and the starter will not work on the '56 engine block. The nose, armature, and solenoid are considerably different (which I am sure you know).
