Is there a specific color spark plug wires and coil wire for the 1924 Touring? Any specific size (7mm-9mm-12mm) I need to get? Thanks,

Mike

It is recommended you purchase black wire and with the solid wire center. Do not use the modern wire as all the center core is a string with graphite, and no actual wire.

Check the size wire that fits the holes in the distributor cap.

Also change the wire from the distributor to the coil.

Would the stranded copper wire core be acceptable for use instead of the solid copper core?

I use stranded copper core wires on my '27 and '28 engines with no problems. Do not use carbon-core wires.

Hi Mike
I sell different colored lacquered cloth spark plug wire and terminals for the older vehicles. I posted a question once on the correct color spark plug wire for the Chevy 4 engines. I was told the correct wire for 1928 should be oak (orange) with black tracers and 1927 and prior were black. I don't know what the exact wire color and spark plug terminals would be a 24 engine yet. I only have reference for spark plug wire lengths for 1926-28 which I believe should be pretty close for a 24 engine. The set I make up uses a brass fork crimp on terminal for the spark plugs with brass knurled slotted nuts that screw on to the spark plug for the fork terminal. The spark plug wire size used is 7MM as the Remy distributor cap is the same 1922-27. The terminals to retain the wire in the distributor cap are SSDCCT terminals that we stock and I modify (drill 1/8 inch hole in end of terminal)because of the spike in the distributor cap towers. I am not sure if the 24 would be equipped with rubber dust boots for the distributor cap and coil as some of the early 20's cars did not use these. When I make up a set of spark plug wires for the 4 cylinder Chevy, the spark plug wire length are 2 x 28 inch, 1 x 25 inch and 1 x 24 inch. The coil wire is 12 inches. I use the ASDCCB antique style boots I stock and supply the coil wire with the standard size distributor cap ASDCCB boot and the larger ASCB boot.

I can make up any style set desired or you can go to our website and purchase the spark plug wire and ends and make up your own set.
