Is there any way to find out what the VIN is for a 1933 Master Town Sedan? The ID plate was missing from the right side floor board. It's an all original matching numbers vehicle. I am the second owner, and the title just identifies the car by the engine number. Is there a cross reference somewhere utilizing the engine number? I am completing a correct restoration and wanted to finish this item off.

Thanks

Prior to 1955 most states used the engine number for registration. If thats the number on the title you are lucky.
There is really no way to find there serial number. ||You can buy a reproduction one and stamp it yourself.
If it says Master on the title it is a later 1933. Is the Fisher Body take still in place?

Just checked the title. It just says 1933 Chev Town Sedan. The Fisher Body tag is on the right from cowl. I have a new replacement metal ID tag which asks for the CAR NO. I believe it should start out 1 CA_ _ _ _ _ _ _. Do I just make up numbers??? The Job # 33-581 which I believe indicates a town sedan. The Body # F 5106. This indicates it was built in Flint, MI. I don't know if this indicates if its a Master or an Eagle. I does have the Eagle radiator cap. Did they include that on both the Eagle and the Master?

The Eagle has no divider bar between the front door vent window and door glass. The knob to operate the vent is a straight bar with no knob.
The Master has the fixed dividing bar and the vent handle looks like a short version of the window crank.
If you send me the engine number I can determine what month the engine was made which will be real close to the assembly date.
The Eagle cap was an accssory for any 1933.

For better coverage you might want to post in the 1933-1936 forum.

That is an August of 1933 serial number.
The Aug. serial numbers ranged from 3821415 through 3890932.

Based on that, and assuming an August build, do you happen to know what the typical VIN numbers were for that month?

I don't have numbers for that but it would put the car at the mid point of 1933 production. \About 450,000 Master cars assembled at all plants and there was eleven US assembly plants in 1933. Flint probably produced more cars than most plants.
If I were to select a number it would be about 20,000 and something.
