The G-1E that they sell is most correct. The 1947 Delco did not have yellow caps the the Delco letters. etc. was not painted yellow.

Just wait, chef-chevy will be along shortly to give you the story as he knows it. Also, depends on how close to original you want to be.

Bruce, please post here to help refresh my memory, please?

Several years back, while living in Ohio, I purchased a battery from AAB in HUDSON, OHIO for my 6 volt '51 Chevy.

Not certain if this AAB company in YOUNGSTOWN, OHIO is the same company, as the one in HUDSON, OHIO. I believe it is.

As an ongoing practice for years, I have used a 6 volt "Battery Tender", for my battery.

Car was stored in its heated garage, for the winter. Car was started at 4 to 6 week intervals.

After 6 months of AAB battery ownership, green light on battery tender turned to red. No crank, no start.

Called AAB, young lady told me, over the phone, that battery was sulfated ..... no warranty. How did they know ?

Being in Ohio and near to HUDSON, OHIO facility, I took battery in, for their inspection. The same young lady, at the counter, asked an employee to take my battery to the rear of the store, for inspection, where I was not permitted.

Few minutes went by, the diagnosis was a "hard sulfated battery", due to no charging of the battery, during the winter "idle months".

I told them of my battery tender being connected to the battery. "Battery tender was defective, no good", they said.

NO WARRANTY consideration for me. Money down the drain, after 6 short months.

Bought a new battery from Tractor Supply.

The "same battery tender" has now been keeping this Tractor Supply battery up to snuff, for several years now.

I now see the AAB warranty for leaded batteries (the battery I purchased) is only 90 days, before going into their "pro rating system".

Hello bobg1951chevy:

As per your problem with the AAB company, several years ago I researched the correct battery for a 1940-1948 Chevy. After tons of research, many phone calls by me, I located an original 1948 battery case. The original battery owned by a VCCA member agreed to loan the now dead battery to AAB, so that they could exactly make a reproduction of the case.
After they went into production, I asked AAB how it was going. Not even a thank you from the owner for all pof the work spent in documenting what was original. So, I run a Brand New Delco 6 volt battery from my local Auto store which carries Delco batteries.

DTM, a sad grand finale, for efforts put forth.

Certainly, they made me very unhappy, their actions made me feel very insignificant, with my purchase from them.
