Curious…not being a fire truck follower by any means….how does a Seagrave fire truck fit the VCCA criteria? I looked up its' history and I can't find any affiliation of Seagrave with Chevy or GMC…I'm sure I missed it somehow..thx…Billu38

If you were a fire truck follower, you would realize that most fire apparatus companies offered equipment and bodies for smaller trucks. Those were typically built on 1-3 ton chassis supplied by Chevrolet, GMC, Ford, Dodge, International, REO, Mack and other truck manufacturers. The larger companies like Seagrave, American LaFrance, Pierce, Peter Pirsch & Sons, Ahrens-Fox, etc. made trucks of their own design/manufacture. The smaller trucks were typically used by smaller cities, villages, rural companies. Larger trucks used in medium to large cities.

My truck is actually a 37 Chev 1-1/2T (model SD) that was built as a chassis and cab by Chevrolet. It was then sent to Seagrave to be outfitted with the fire apparatus and box. It was ordered by the volunteer fire dept of Eufaula, OK and was delivered to the on Sept 24, 1937.

The restoration of this is going to be fun because I not only have to look for Chevrolet parts, but Seagrave parts as well.

The Boss has a 1931 Fire Truck with Chevrolet 1 1/2 ton cowl and chassis that was fitted with fire equipment by Luverne then located in Luverne Minnesota. We also have a '20 Chevrolet Model T fire truck with that was put into service less than 20 miles from the Oakland, CA assembly plant. The equipment was installed by the fire department on an express bodied chassis. Sadly we don't have much of the original equipment only a few photos.
