Good luck I think the whole unit is die-cast. you will probably need to machine it out and use a new pin after chrome. I had some chromed without taking them apart. don't know what they did. If they actually took them apart It was not visible. I think they either sealed the hinge or just broke the intrusion. Or both, it worked as a hinge. Faith plating in L.A.

Mongol,

Faith Plating in LA does some truly amazing stuff. A VCCA member sold me some bumper guards that he described as having "light surface rust". In reality they were horribly pitted and looked hopeless.

Only Faith Plating was willing to rechrome them. When I got them back from Faith they looked absolutely perfect. Faith left them in the copper tank until enough copper was deposited to fill the craters. If you give me your email address I'll send you a photo of the finished product.

Unfortunataly I don't have a "before" photo but they were awful and the guy who sold them to me wouldn't respond to any of my efforts to return them for a refund.

Mongol,

I emailed you a picture of one of the bumper guards Faith replated for me. I wish I had a "Before" photo. Those bumper guards were described to me as "light surface rust" but in fact looked like the cratererd surface of the moon. What Faith Plating accomplished seems like a miracle to me. I just can't praise them enough.

I still remember being at Faith Plating to bring in and pick up my parts and seeing priceless antiques there. Now I know why.

I now remember that I got them from a VCCA member named Jim Mothershead.
