The 1934 left the factory with no valve stem seals. The first Chevrolet to use a device to prevent oil from running down the valve guide was the 1941. To remove the valve keeper and cap (and spring) you need an air hold fitting It screws into the spark plug hole and air pressure is used to bild pressure in the cylinder to hold the valve up in place. Next you will need a valve spring compressore. There is a lever type for Chevrolet or the universal hand screw/jaw type. I used a plastic umbrells type oil deflector on my 1934. They were from a Ford engine, about 1980 with a 302 cubic inch. engine.

Thank you Chev Nut. I guess that would explain why I couldnt find seals on fillingstation.... Any idea where I can buy the air device from? Also, does that mean that I would have to adjust the clearances again. My logic tells me no but am I right??

Brakkie Must engine shops should have something similar. They do come in various sizes according to stem diameter though so may have to be ordered in for uncommon stems. I would advise at least checking valve clearances when reassembled but they wont be far out. Tony
