was wondering if anyone knows where the jack is stored correctly for a 47Coupe? have the original bumper jack but do not know where to store it. Also having a issue when I am driving around 45-55 mph and I get a vibration or howling noise under my feet. had tranny checked out and ok. Does not do it always and seems to start after driving it 10-15 miles. Possible U joint problem?? or maybe axle bearing? Appreciate any ideas and help.

U-joint and upper torque tube bushing are most likely the source.

I read the first sentence of Rich47's question and then seeing that Chipper had answered, I jumped down to see his response. Was very surprised to see in 1947 they wedged the jack in by the u-joint and torque tube. Glad by '48 they put it in the trunk. :-)

There was no offical location for 1947 jack storage. You have to buy a 1949 to have that feature.

Did you mean the noise problem may be a ujoint or torque tube bushing? I can't imagine jack went under the car. I did hear something about it going under rear seat. Thanks Again

Guess that asking three questions in a single post gets a bit confusing to all of us. Thought that it would be obvious that my reply was concerning the second and third questions. But if you want to store the jack by the U-joint it might be noisy also.

I am interested in this thread and yesterday, went to the Jack link proviced by ruscar. Had I seen that thread a few days ago along with this one, it would have saved me some frustration. When I got my "new" 48 coupe a couple of weeks ago, I noticed it did not have a jack. Since the trunk had been meticulously redone, I thought someone had covered over the original jack storage area. I could not find such a place because there isn't one! Also, there isn't a jack in my car. Does anyone have an extra original or accessory 48 jack they will part with? I will put an ad in "Parts Wanted" but thought it might be noticed here also. Beamer

Oh god, Fillingstation has them...I used to see them on Ebay...Don't forget Chevy's of the '40's. You could even start your own new topic, although it's a little late for that...How do you like your '47 Coupe anyway..? Pretty cool cars, huh...? laugh
