I was told if they are short they can be stretched in the sun. But it seems like they would shrink back when they cool off. Bye

Since they are rubber, their length will vary depending upon the temperature. It is recommended that the running board mats be laid out in the sun to warm up prior to installation so that they can be stretched if needed while being installed on the running boards. Once installed correctly on the running boards they should not shrink back to a smaller size. The running board mats on my car were installed almost 30 years ago and they have never shrunk in length. You can probably purchase some from your local automotive/boat upholstery shop. When applying the running board mats, make sure that they are installed on super clean bare metal.
