YES!!!! Put me down for this color, too. When are we going to get pictures!? Sounds like you're getting it put together, and we'd like to see the process. Do too!

Charlie, What color did the ID tag have on it? Seems like there were several colors availible for that model.
Just asking... Agrin

Color code on this particular car is black. But as you indicate the club encourages the same color as the body is coded but will accept any color that was available for that year.

The exception may be that cameo cream is acceptable for cabriolets only. Not sure about that but it would make sense. dance

I've never seen a cameo cream one but once at Hershey. I don't know if it was the right shade or not but it didn't stand out too well.
WOW! If that is cameo cream, it get my vote.

Hello Charlie,

I found the perfect accessory to go with Cameo Cream. I think the Navy Blue frame color might be something to consider for the interior along with the wide whites on the tires. Now you would have a matching set of wheels !! parking

(Sorry, took this pic with my cell phone and couldn't get it to rotate when I saved it)

Thanks, Steve and all who have given me good advice.

I think the consensus is (and my take on everything):

#1 Ruby Maroon with a black top. wave

Pros:

a. Not far off from what I preferred in the first place.

b. This color combination will satisfy the dilemma of the top rails color and still be a good overall color scheme.

Cons: Tan top looks a tad better to me. pineapple

#2 (close second, here) Black on Black.

Pros:

a. Will satisfy dilemma of top rails

b. Is what the code calls for

c. Good contrast between upholstery and body color

d. Sets off all the chrome (including accessories) best

Cons: Well, not really a color, so to speak. Small con.

#3 Cameo Cream with Black top luv2

Pros:

a. Good contrast between interior color and body

b. Satisfies top rail dilemma also

c. Unique color combination for the 41 cabriolet.

Con: Light color just doesn't look as good as a darker one, unique cameo cream notwithstanding.

Best to everyone who had input. You too, Big Richie.

While this dilemma is still going on in my head, your responses have helped me narrow it down to the point that I think the end product will be something I can live with without any later regrets. And, given the costs of getting it wrong, thats really important.

Thank you all so much,
Charlie computer

Charlie...Just take that thing, hook it to the old John Deer, drag it down to your local Earl Scheib's, dig down in your bib overhauls pocket and pay the $29.95 and have it hosed down with any color that they happen to have in the spray gun at the time, and live with it......Amen....ED

A Tad ?? All this work and you're gonna give in to the most common color?? Tan Man...that's the way to go.

If the maroon clashes with the interior I'd scratch it off the list because when ever possible I'd be driving with the top down.
How's about tan over black with a maroon boot?
It'll look like two completely different cars depending if the top is up or down.
The rails are black? So what? Black goes with anything.

I saw your comment about the color saying that the number 1 answer was maroon with a black top....however, you also said you thought the tan top looked better.

I have one suggestion for you and it's the advice I've been following for my 1941 Chevrolet Sedan. Make it your car and the color you want. Don't build your car to please others, build it to please you. For example, the original 1941 Sedan had tan seats and a pinkish/tan dash bottom. I didn't want tan and I didn't want pink. So.....I chose gray. I don't care what it was originally....I want it the way I want it.

I voted for Maroon with a black top if it was mine. But from what I'm reading...the car should be Maroon with a tan top since that's what you like. Stick with your gut and what you like....not what me or the folks on the VCCA think. It's yours!
