Gidday fellas,

Over the past 8 months I have leanrt many things about my old 28' and one thing in particular was that the vacuum tank that was working well on it was from a earlier model, yes it had the cast top model tank fitted.
Anyway while attending the Bendigo swap meet here in Oz I picked up 2 very good "tin top" vac tanks that suit the 28' model, one of which is fitted now to my chev and is working fine after a few little hiccups, so last night while adjusting the tank on the firewall I was chatting to Ray on the phone and while doing this it came to Rays attention that my smaller inside tank has the incorrect toilet seat type "flap" at the bottom of it which would of came from the earlier model tanks.
On inspection of my other spare "tin top" tank this also has the wrong smaller inner tank with the "flap".... Buggar it!!

Ray explained that his 28 has the simpler "non flap" mechanism, so my question is would anyone have a spare inner jug/tank which is correctly suited for my 28'. I would pay postage and costs and would like to get and keep the tank as a correct working 28' model

Hope you can help out, and thanks for taking an interest.

Cheers Grant.

I hate to pour cold water on poor ole Ray but, both inner tank valves were used in '28 vacuum tanks. I have some with the disc on the bottom and others with the toilet seat flap. Don't know when the change was made.

Gidday Chipper,

Many thanks for that, tis all sorted then!

We discussed this abit and as the car is now running very well I would leave it like this but chase up a simplier inner jug soon, hence my question being posted up here.... but now I shall leave it for years to come and consider it a done deal :)

Thanks once again Chipper

Cheers Grant.

I have documented my 45 years with a 1928 Chev Tourer, from 1973 to 2018, and regulary add other items that I hope are of interest to others. Your comments are most welcome. The story of the Red Chev can be viewed at http://my28chev.blogspot.com/

Until I got several with the toilet seat flapper, I was under the impression that all had the disc type valve, just like you were Ray. Maybe we helped a few more learn something new. Sorry didn't want it to give you the shivvers just get your attention.
