How many years did Chevrolet use the slogan "for Economical Transportation"? I know it is on my 1931 Chevrolet Repair Manual. I picked up a salesman's business card at an Antique show the other day. The card was for a dealership that went out of business several years ago.

In my '31 Accessories book it has the slogan "Finer Quality Chevrolet Lower Cost.

I have also seen "Six for the Price of a Four."

The earliest use of "for Economical Transportation" that I found was in a 1925 ad in a Floyd Clymer's Scrapbook. Following my own usual advice, I Googled "for Economical Transportation" and got dozens of hits, mostly for the repro signs, but a few that had a little info. I got different hits when I included "Chevrolet" and when I used "Economic". There are little bits of info out there, one seemed to indicate the slogan was in use in 1922. I'll check some more Google sites and also dig deeper into my library.

Google also lead me to the Oct 30, 2011 issue of Advertising Age Magazine that ran an article "100 Years of Chevrolet Advertising". This article includes the 1919 all-text ad that says "meets completely the national need for dependable and economical transportation." By 1922 "for Economical Transportation" and "Quality at low cost" were in use. The article then gives various different slogans that were added almost yearly. This should take you to the article: http://adage.com/article/special-re...olet-advertising-a-timeline/230636/#1910
It starts you in 1910, you read down the the bottom and then go to the top for 1920 and so on.
