I just looked at the oil pump and found no seal in it. What should be there. A felt seal or rubber or ? . Maybe I should say, I bought this car completely dis-assembled. The motor is in the frame but needs putting together. Is a complete gasket set going to give me all the gaskets and seals needed. I have all types of gasket material available to me and I can make most of what I need, or am I making my job harder by trying to do too much by trying to do it all myself?

Your oil pump does not have a seal as such, but uses packing that is retained by the left hand threaded gland nut.The packing I use when making the oil pumps(either the 1924/25 or "490" type), is called stern gland packing or greasy hemp.Other people use graphite coated asbestos rope,or something similar, but others may give their choice of gland packing.

Thanks for the help. Where I work they do have rope packing. I will check to see if it will work with oils.
