Just joined....first post. I am restoring my dad's 65 impala ss 396. I am starting on the ac system and I am trying to find a source for date-coded ac hoses. Obviously they would need to be custom printed to reflect size and quarter of the year. I was told gates was providing this service but I couldnt get any help from them. I may have to have a rubber stamp made and do it myself. Fun. Anyone ever had a set of hoses made with date codes? Looking forward to going through this resto and being a member of vcca.

Sorry, I can't answer your question, but I am sure someone can. Welcome to the chat site. I didn't realize that Chevy offered a 396 in 1965 other than the Corvette. Live and learn.

Thanks for the welcome. The 325 horse motor was offered in full size cars as was the 425 horse version. My dad placed his order at Weber Chevrolet in St. Louis in November of 1964 and took delivery in June of 1965. Apparently the new motor and turbo 400 combo was backed up.

I had a 68 Chevelle SS 396 that I bought new. Wish I still had It!
