What would the resistance be for the in-tank fuel sending unit in a 34 Chevy 3 window coupe?

Would it be the standard GM 0-90ohm?

The reason I'm asking is that I have a late model 0-90 ohm gauge in the dash and it appears that an empty tank displays as 1/2 full and when the tank is full..the gauge displays way beyond the full mark.

I would not be surprised if I am corrected but I think the sender unit from factory was about 30 ohms. This being the case I would suggest that there is extra resistance (bad connection) in your system causing a false reading.

Thanks tonyw

Found a link that indicates the pre 65 GM were 0-30 ohm sending units. Just topped up the tank and the resistance is now 37 ohms at the tank.

I may just try increasing the inline resistance via RadioShack.

Thanks
