OK! I was working on my 34 this weekend and found something out about the Generator Pulley that I didn't know. The part number, which is cast in the pulley, is the same from 32 to 35. The part number is 836611. So what is the difference between 32 and 34?

I would be interested on the references on the application of 836611. My references have it only fitting '32-'33 with the following numbers: 836256, 837619, 837623, 364872, 364986, 601878, 837879, 837948 also fitting '29-25 Chevrolets. Diameters range from 3 1/2" to 3 29/32", thicknesses range from 1" to 1 5/16" and width of belt groove 11/16" to 3/4".

I guest the Dog and I are looking at the same parts book, April 1st, 1934, which shows 836611. My next newest parts book is September 1, 1938 which shows 32 to 35 but using part number 837879.

As to the numbers you listed, plus two others that I know of:
346745, 28 to 29
836256, All my parts books show this as 29 to 31
836611, 32 to 34
837619, My books don't show this part number, could you give more information?
837623, My books don't show this part number, could you give more information?
364872, My April 1st, 1934 parts book shows this as "33-34 Special for trucks with Montpellier Body"
364986, My April 1st, 1934 parts book shows this as "33-34 Special for trucks Driven at High Speeds"
601878, My September 1, 1938 parts book shows this as 29-31, obviously a replacement part
837879, My September 1, 1938 parts book shows this as 32-35, obviously a replacement part
837948, My books don't show this part number, could you give more information?

On part number 836256, that is actually a 1930-31 pulley, and it also replaced 346745 for 1929 in late 1931. However, from the January 1, 1929 six-cylinder parts book, thru the February 1, 1931 six-cylinder parts book, 346745 is shown as fitting 1929 only and not 1930 or 1931.

So, for original factory listings on the generator pulley for the early six-cylinder cars, here are the applications:

346745 = 1929
836256 = 1930 and 1931
836611 = 1932-1934

It is typical throughout the later parts books for different pulleys to be retrofitted for various year applications. laugh laugh laugh laugh laugh

I have consulted numerous parts books from 1925 to 1936 and my favorite 1929-42 (April 2, 1945). Generators beginning in 1935 for the Master models and used for all models in 1936 have the pulley and fan as a unit. The models prior to those only used a pulley.

Part No. - Application
345561 - 1926-27 Superior, Util. (Series V, X)
346745 - 1927-29 Sup. U, (Ser. V,X), C, N, AC
364872 - 1933-35 Truck w/Montpellier bodies
364986 - 1933-35 Truck driven at high speed
372936 - 1933-34 Repl. with 975-U generator
601878 - 1929-31 Replacement (~late 30s & later)
602229 - 1936 w/fan high speed
602243 - 1936 w/fan low speed
836256 - 1930-31 All
836611 - 1932 to 34 except special applications
837619 - 1935 EA, ED with pulley
837623 - 1932-35 Replacement (~1935)
837879 - 1932-35 Replacemnet (1936 & later)
837948 - 1936 FA,FB,FC,FD,R w/fan
1856514 - 1936 w/Model 935U generator replacement

I started an article for the G&D several years ago but still need dimensions for several of the pulleys before sending it in. Maybe I have more that I can measure and finish it. Of maybe some of you can send the diameter, width of the belt groove and overall thickness measurements so I can fill in the blanks in the table.

Hey Chip!

Really good post! I this is one of the best chats we've had yet on the chat page. I'll measure what I have and let you know.
