I have some period correct Unity spot lights and wondered if any body has installed on their PU trucks 47-54. If so how did you locate where to mount and drill hole? Thanks Lou.

The Unity spotlights were aftermarket lamps that were "Approved" by GM to be installed by the dealers.

If I had a choice...
I would use the actual GM made accessory "Guide S-16 " model lamp.

Drilling the hole & mounting are pretty much the same procedure with both lamps.

Don't forget that the wires for your gas gauge & dome lamp pass through the window pillar where you have to drill.... We like to feed a piece of split loom wire cover over those wires & feed it up through the pillar before drilling that scary 1/2" hole through the body.

No matter which lamp you decide to use.... the AD trucks require the short 10 inch shaft spotlight..... anything longer result in the inner handle conflicting with the steering wheel or the lamp head conflicting with the hood when opened.

Thanks mothertrucker, the pics really help but I still hate to drill that hole! I just finished new metal repair to the windshield frame and releaded that post joint. no wiring to worry about yet cab still on rotisserie.Would like to get a copy of the dealer install instruction. Lou.
