Can any of you Chev Gurus tell me how to lever off the hubcaps on my (35 Chev)car, but without causing damage to the painted wheel? Thanks in advance.

Use a soft plastic tool. The edge of a bondo spreader works just fine. Start with the narrow end and slide toward the fat end. A little wiggling of the spreader helps it slide easier. The spatula intended for Teflon coated cookware also works if the "Boss" is not looking. Does not make the pancakes taste funny if it is washed well after use. Just don't get caught.

Chipper, your post reminds me of the time I was using the Boss's soup ladle to empty loose dirt out of some post holes I was digging. You'd have thought I had committed a felony! Should have been faster and gotten it back into the kitchen before it was spotted.

All the Best, Chip

Thanks Guys for the humour and good ideas! At least when I am accused of taking all the cleaners etc. from the house to the shed, I can say it is an international problem. Thanks for your help.

Chip,
And I'll bet that she threw that soup ladle out in the trash too. They don't think it can ever be cleaned again. I don't press the subject as I might just get dirt in my next bowl of soup.

Wrap some electrical tape around wide screw driver blade. This will cusion the blade and not chip paint.

I use a wide blade putty knife with a shop rag wrapped around it
and insert that between the hub cap and the rim. Now you can
insert the screw driver and pry the cap loose without damaging
the wheel.

I also use a putty knife. It is nice and wide and not as thick as a screwdriver blade. I put a rug / large rag on the pavement so that the hubcap does not get scratched when it pops off the rim and hits the ground.
