Hello all...
Is the (universal) brake light switch from the filling station a suitable replacement for the one on my '32? The little arm came off mine and I'm not sure I will be able to put it back on properly.
Thanks again,
Cliff
p.s. What is the length of the muffler that is suppose to be on a 32. The one I have is ~ 29"x 8"x 4" and has a bend or two in the middle. I don't think the coat hanger holding it up had anything to do with that. Gonna replace it as well.... the muffler that is.... I retired the coat hanger. :o)
Thanks

With some modifications the universal switch might be made to work. However, I would try repairing the existing switch first.

That is my plan and then I can figure a way to get the set-up to work properly. Will be doing that today after I finish grouting the tile around the fireplace.

Any measurements for the muffler ?

Does anyone have any idea how the car would sound with a "magna flow" type muffler ?

Thanks everyone again,
Cliff

Not sure, but I doubt if a Magna Flow muffler would even fit on your stock exhaust system. But hey, if you do put on a Magna Flow, how about a 350 V8 too, and air conditioning and a CD player and......

I was actually thinking of a "autoloc flame thrower" kit for the car. This way when an over zealous tailgater hangs off my backend I could just light up their front end and they will learn to stay away. lol.
On second thought I will just stay stock as best I can.

Hey all...
Fixed the brake light switch today. Duct tape is still holding. I will test it out tomorrow night. Painted the backing plates today and will start assembling the front brakes friday. I will have both rear drums off tomorrow night and then send in the shoes for relining on friday as well.

Still need to know the dimensions of the muffler that should go on my car if anyone can help me out, please !!! (32- 4 dr)

Well off to save Harper, Obama and the rest of the politicians that are going to be invading my country for the next few days....

Thanks again
Cliff
p.s. it's not a choice but just the right thing to do.

I think he's joking about Canadian's fascination about fixing everything with "duct tape". We had a comedy show running here a while back called the Red Green Show, a sort of cabin recluse who was always inventing or fixing something, quite often with DT. It is amazing how many useful purposes it can be put to. Just this week I put a strip on the existing poor paint on my old Chevy, pressed it in good and pulled off, presto, original paint underneath in some places! I'm sure we all have applications for this type of product.

Ya, I figured as much....however, there are some dudes in this hobby that do "restore" their cars with duct tape!

These measurements are taken from a NOS GM mufller (603746)

Body O.D 5 1/2"
Body Length 20 1/4" not counting outlet stub (1")
Inlet I.D. 2"
outlet I.D. 1 5/16"

There is one discrepancy between these measurements and the Parks Pipes that are on my 31. The outlet measures 1 1/2" I.D.

Hello
Dads31 Thank you for the numbers on the muffler. Now I can start the hunt to replace mine which isn't even close to your numbers.

JyD Yes I was kidding. Just like the autoloc flame kit and the magna flow. If you could get your car to have a soft low grumble sound and then lite up the tail pipe, some people would just ohh and ahh. Not me though....

The worst thing I'm going to do is a stop gap measure and that is to put 6 bolt 15" rims and tires on it until I get the originals sandblasted and painted to match the new rubber I plan to put on it. In the meantime... the modern day tires will help me work out any kinks the car might have so when it is finally put together with the proper equipment I won't have to push it back into my garage.
thanks again to all,
Cliff

You can get the correct muffler from the Filling Station or from Park's Pipes.
