So I am currently working on a 1958 Chevrolet Apache with a 283 engine and 3 Speed transmission. I started cleaning all the grease and dirt off the throughout bearing fork and discovered a bronze color paint.
Is this correct and original, if not what color should it be?

Every original fork I had ever saw on a passenger car was natural (silver) and had overspray engine color from the factory on it.

agree with john originals natural stamped cold steel. however,in the 70's, i've bought over the chevy counter service replacements that were gold cad.
