Hey guys, I have a "66" Caprice 4 door the engine is pretty much done (smokes, lacks power, etc...)Can anybody recommend a reliable long block crate engine that's also an easy swap for the original 289. I think these were just a bit too small. devil stressed Thanks for your' time.

Hi

I recently did a swap on my 1966 Bel Air wagon I built it for towing my vintage trailer. I purchased a brand new crate 350 Cubic inch for just under $2000 from my local GM dealer. It was a simple swap and I had the option of using the original valve covers, and could have used my 2 barrel intake but opted fot a new edelbrock intake(painted orange) and 4 barrel carb covered with a original style air cleaner. I would have been content to rebuild the 283 if it wasn't for towing in the mountains.

Hope this helps good luck

Anthony
