I am trying to replace the wire in the metal cable of the electrolock. I took it about, but still can't see the wire. Before I destroy it, can anyone tell me what else I'm suppose to do to get to the wire?

Modiol,

Try doing an Advance Search of all our past posts. Just use the word Electrolux. Here is a link to some of the posts that I am most familiar with. Sorry the pictures have been eliminated but storage room is limited on our web site so they are erased after so many years. 1940's Electrolux rebuild

Thanks for including your pictures in your post. A lot of us are visual learners so to us a picture is worth a thousand words .

Good luck, Mike

P.S. If you want your pictures permanently included in your posts please include there web host address. I don't know if I am saying that correctly?

The Filling Station sells a rebuild manual for that specific electrolock.

thanks again everyone for your responses and previous posts. I followed the instructions and was able to replace that old frayed wire.

these are what the dimples look like from the outside, there are three of them. I used a small screwdriver, hammer, and needle nose pliers to knock them out of the way.

This is the inside of the housing. I took this picture after I replaced the wire.

Here is the new wire.

I reversed the process and put it all together. I used a small screwdriver and hammer to put the dimples back in place.

Hi Modiol,

Nicely done, and thanks for the pictures. Now you are ready to tackle another "great adventure." I have a Staples "Easy Button" for days when I do good things. Hearing the recording: "That was easy," always brings a smile to my face and adds to my self esteem.

I also call days when a job is completed "moving days." Days that I revel in the success of an accomplishment and "move on" to another challenge.

Have a good day, Mike
