Hey everybody. Just signed on here a few minutes ago, but have been VCCA members for about a year. Trying to locate folks that own, are restoring, have restored, have parts, or are just into '59 and '60 Chevs. I own a 1960 Impala 4 door hardtop... bought it when I was 13 with paper route money. It has a 283/4 barrel w/single exhaust, Turboglide, posi, but no power steering or brakes, Turquoise w/white top. My father owns a 1960 Belair 4 door sedan, 283/2BBL, Powerglide, power steering, painted Cascade green w/white top. Also in the arsenal are a '60 Impala 4 door sedan, 348, Turboglide, Posi, PS, PB, rear speaker, rear antenna, rear bumper guards. '59 Belair 4 door sedan, 348, Turboglide, PS, PB, one piece bumpers front and rear, and factory A/C... on a car from Montana! Unfortunately, a farmer decided to turn this one into a sprayer truck many years back by crudely cutting the body off right aft of the front doors, and filling the hole behind his head with barn siding and a rectangular plate glass window... Still a wealth of parts to be had. And last, a '60 Impala 4 door sedan, 348, posi, Turboglide, PS, PB. This one was the victim of an out of control grass fire, and since has been parted and discarded. Guess I'm getting a bit wordy here, so... Any other 1959/1960 fans out there? Thanx...

Welcome to Chevy Chatter II Sticknover. I've don't have a 59 or 60 and never have had one. But, I like 'em also. The closest I ever got was back in 1962. A friend was selling his 59 convertible. I'd been saving every nickel I could to buy a 59 Corvette. I had most of the nickels I needed and waited just a little longer and bought the Corvette. I hope you enjoy "our" chat thing and get lots of help here.

Interesting group of cars. It seems like you got a good share of Turboglide cars. I have 2 '59's and 4 '60's but they are all parts cars.

I have always loved the 59 and 60 model year cars.I've never had the pleasure to own any as they are quite pricey.I got into this hobby way too late. The Impalas look great with all the trim on them but,IMHO you can have the bel-airs and biscaynes.....I have never been a fan of the lower end of the spectrum. Welcome to the Chatter II,I'm sure there are many 59/60 fans on here!
I got a 60 coupe, 348 four speed car and am a big fan of the flat fins!

I'm also a big fan of 59 & 60 Chevy's, I own a 62 Impala Sport Coupe and a 60 Impala Sport Sedan the same Cascade Green with White top color combo as your dads car.
My car is just a 6 cyl, but someday I would love to find a loaded 348 "flattop". You found the right place for technical help and Chevy lovers. John is very knowledgeable on 60's and can help you if you have any questions
I recently attended the Back to the 50's car show in Minnesota, this is a very large show with over 12,000 cars (All 1964 or older). While there I saw many 59 & 60 cars with 3 other 60 Impala Flattops You can see my photos at http://picasaweb.google.com/62Impalaman
You will also find photos of the VCCA Middle West Meet at this site.

Thanks everyone for taking the time to reply... Yes, we do have a few Turboglide cars. Those all came from Northwestern Montana. The sole Powerglide car is from Tucson, Arizona. I used to think the TG was the norm, but it seems not to be the case. Maybe the dealer in Montana liked the Turboglide, and ordered a lot of them for stock... I dunno. Although prices have gone up significantly in the last number of years, they're still pretty affordable... if ya don't mind a couple of extra dooor handles. Maybe I'm nuts, but I'm rather fond of the four door hardtops myself. Bill62T, would you be interested in parting with any parts from those 6 cars? Most of the stuff we need are trim parts and a few odds and ends. Thanks again...

In College I had a friend with a 59 convertible. Between that and my 59 Silver Hawk, we covered a lot of Kansas. I think the 59 was the nicest year, but I've had a 55 and a 61.

You have probably seen my current project, almost finished.... 1 1960 Corvair.
1st car I ever owned was a 1960 chev white 4 door, straight six 235 with 3 on the tree. Bought it with money saved as a box boy at the local grocery. Second car I ever owned was a 1960 El Camino, 283, three on the tree with under the dash overdrive. It had factory rails and was midnight blue metal flake with cragers on all four. Sad story...ex wife complained so much about me keeping it I finaly caved and sold it. I bought it in early 70's sold it in the late 80's. Wish I knew where it was now. I've often thought if I could find it I'd try and buy it back. Oh well...........

They were a nice looking car. My first new one was a '59 Biscayne and the wife had a '59 2dr hardtoop BelAir Gold in color when we were dating. Traded them off for a '63 BelAir when we got married. Liked all three. bana2 We also had a '50 chev for our second car. auto Come back and tell us more about yours. :vcca:

Hi Stickover...Newby here also. I have a 59 and 60; both are Spt. Coupes. The 59 is a 283 PG with 57k original miles and has been in the family since new. It is totally original, with factory paint and interior (well, I did put on a set of dual glass packs, couldn't help myself...and I have a 61 radiator that most folks wouldn't notice).

The 60 is an original car also, but has one repaint. It has a 283 with a Turboglide; power seats and a positrac. It came originally from Idaho, which explains the positrac. We drive this car the most (no trailers here), and with the WWW radials it drives out pretty well.

More later.

Yep, like they say, Bill, the squirrels will find each other and I believe that is true for those of us who revere the classic Chevys. Summer is on its way and that means car shows, good friends and good times. Glad to know there are a few old friends here too!

Dennis.
