Fit what? A 24 touring? Yes a 22-23 will fit however the brake system on a 24 are comprised of control rods instead of control cables like the 22-23.

If I'm not mistaken, the leaf springs attach to the axle housing differently also. From what I have seen the "true" '23 has a bolt running down through the spring into the axle housing mount, where the '24 has a pin running across the spring through a loop in the end of the spring. This difference in itself makes the two years not interchangeable. But be careful, some '23's have the '24 frames and some '24's have the '23 frames. So make sure of the correct year rear end first. The braking setup and the leaf spring hookup are what separates these two years. My apologies if I am mistaken in any of this and of course ready for someone to set me straight.

I agree with Mike. The late 490 & 1923 used almost the same rear-ends. The rear-end is the largest difference between 1923 & 1924.

** Springs: The 490 & 1923 use the bolt through the longest leaf and clamp a few other leaves. The 1924 has an "eye" on the end like a traditional leaf spring.
** Cables vs. Rods: The late 490 and 1923 use brake cables. 1924 uses brake rods.
** Brake Drums: 490 & '23 use smaller brake drums.
** Rear Wheel Hubs: 490 & 23 use different wheel hubs. The hub on the earlier cars act as the inner race of the outer wheel bearings. They call the 1923 and earlier cars to use a "floating axle" meaning that the outer wheel bearings are not complete until the wheel is installed.

I'm sure that there are other differences but these are the items that I remember off the top of my head. I can take pictures of both styles next week to demonstrate the differences if that would help.

Hello Chris, I had forgotten about the brake drum size differences - '23 has 10" and '24 has 11" drums.

I would like to see the hub differences if it isn't too much trouble. I haven't seen the '23 assembly before.
