I was changing the lower coolant hoses on my stock sedan and discovered the bent metal pipe is badly rusted. Is the pipe available anywhere or do I have to get a formed hose?

Th lower hose for a 1950 with a standard transmisson was a one piece moulded curved hose.
Not sure how your car ended up with the metal pipe.
That is interesting, as my car is a 35,000 mile survivor that I purchased from the original owner in 1972. The bent pipe was painted black and fit like it came on the car but the connecting hoses had been replaced, so maybe the pipe was not stock. I guess that I will be happy that I can buy a formed hose.

The 1949s had the pipe. Perhaps your 1950 was a very early car and moulded hoses were not available.
