Does anyone have experience with the "high efficiency" or high coefficient of friction brake shoe linings that Jim Carter offers in their catalog? For 36-50 1/2 ton pickups the part number is ME138FF. They are currently listed as Back Order. I'm looking for a way to get better braking, less pedal pressure, for my 1946 1/2 ton pickup that has the Huck brakes. The chatter on the forums makes the point that these brakes were never very good or friendly, but this lining option supposedly is an improvement. Is it worth double the price?
Old stock shoes or linings would probably help. They are on eBay often. I have some.
