In 1994 a 1928 expert overhauled my 1927 motor, when I picked it up he had painted it gray. I said it should be green. He apologized and said he had only done 1928's in the past and 1928 is gray. So all these years I have believed 1927 is green and 1928 is gray. I was buying paint for a 1928 and I noticed three sources to purchase this paint state 1928 is green. Are all these vendors wrong?

Is 1928 gray and 1927 green like I have believed since 1994?

From reading previous threads, I believe the answer is that all the 4 cylinder engines were green (although more of a grayish green) and the 6 cylinder engines were gray.

Since the 6 cylinder engines came out in 1929, your expert was off by one year.

Cheers, Dean

If I were buying paint for a '28 Chevrolet four cylinder engine I would purchase if from the Filling Station. They have the correct color. Unsure about the other vendors out there. The original engine color was much like the old Bell telephone bell on their trucks in the 40's and 50's, a gray/green but more towards green.
