Convey to Tahoe from East Bay - 07/26/16 07:32 AM
A few of us are going to convey to Tahoe on Sunday, August 7th.
Here's what we'd planned, if you'd like to tag along.
Please pass this along to other VCCA members who might be interested.
Tentative plan is to meet at Albany Target around 8 AM on
Sunday, 8-7-16 and head North (east) on Hwy #80.
(Getting back on the Fwy north is tricky. Just follow me.)
I had planned to stop at Vacaville Costco to tank up.
Usually lowest price fuel en route to Tahoe. There's another low price station a block away.
There's a solar charging place next door if you're driving an EV.
We'll meet Mike Q and others from Sacramento at Bidwell & Scott exit off Hwy #50 around 10 AM in Folsom at Hampton
Inn parking lot near In/Out Burger & Chevron.
We may have an unscheduled stop or 2 on our way up the
hill if there are overheating problems.
Safeway on Hwy 50 in route to hotel, has cheapest gas at Tahoe.
I'll discuss convey procedures later to avoid annoying those who wear gold & blue helmets. We plan to keep in contact via Cell phone held by passengers.
I'll probably be driving "Modern Iron" this trip. A 1938 instead of a 1937.
Thanks to a change in gear ratios, I can now travel at 55 MPH on level hwy. Previously, 40 MPH was all it would do. Since 55 is top legal speed for
trailers, we probably won't go much faster.
If you would like to join in, let me know how fast your vehicle can travel on the freeway and we'll plan accordingly.

For those need additional fuel, about a mile up the road is a
Costco with a gas station if you need to top off before
hitting the road again.
