is the S.D. CORRECT LENS GLASS OR PLASTIC HAVE A BLUE DOT ON IT RIGHT NOW bought a sedan delivery to compliment my coupe so am new to all that fits it

I don't believe any factory lens came with a blue dot. If I'm wrong someone will correct me. I believe a plastic lens will let more light through than a glass lens. Also paint the inside of your housing gloss white. That isn't factory but it will reflect more light through the lens.

The blue dot lenses were after market and not legal in most states. The S.D lens was Lucite (plastic) in 1950.

I paint the inside of my tail light housing, on my pickups, with a chrome paint which does very well for me. Just saying....

thanks for the replies i bought some stock plastic lenses i knew the blue dots were not right i will paint the inside if the light housing silver

Not a good plan. Silver or "chrome" paint is not the most reflective paint. In fact they are a hue of black. The most reflective "paint" is gloss white. There may be other coating more reflective but when referring to paint, gloss white is best. Don't take my word for it, google it. If you do stay away from the many forum posts. Look at the scientific sites for paint reflectivity.

That is why GM used white,,,,it reflects the most light.
