My 32 has a problem that hs me stumped. When cold, the starter motor turns the engine over fine, starts and runs good...After heating up, the starter motor will not turn the engine over. I have the starter motor rebuilt by very reputable folks and have a new battery. After I let it cool down, it will turn over pretty well and stsrt...any suggestions would be very helpful.

I had the same problem with my '37 and found it was a bad coil. I had previously purchased three NOS coils (produced in the "old" days, but in a sealed box) and the problem persisted. I finally bought a 6V coil from NAPA and the problem disappeared immediately and has never returned in the last 15 years of driving the car.

You might also check the timing to make sure it's OK.

Have you checked ALL the connections from the battery including the chassis return.

Battery cables too small, timing advanced too far, poor cable connections such as paint under the ground cable to frame contact, etc.

When I was putting my '52 back together, several friends suggested converting to 12v, non "purists" of course. However, the 6v system worked fine when new so should work fine now, assuming you have a good starter. I purchased a length of welding cable, 0 or 1 gauge wire. I soldered new copper connects to the ends and used a woven ground cable. It spins a freshly rebuilt 235 hot or cold.
