Does anyone have the proper sequence for removing the mounting brackets that surround the radiator on a 29?
Thanks,
Chuck

you talking about removing the core from the shroud/ housing ??

only 6 screws that hold the core in if i remember correct. 2 left, 2 right, 2 top. then the 2 that pass through the bottom flange through the housing into the frame.

i pulled my core, sent it out to get tested and cleaned, while they did that i put in new lacing on the shell.

no secret way to remove or install, gentle and easy does it.

Hi Jerry, thanks for the info! I am also looking how to remove the the mounting brackets from the radiator core. I want to send my radiator out for cleaning/testing and before I remount the radiator I want to clean and paint the mounting straps that surround the core.

Thanks,

Chuck

Oh, not sure on that, did not take mine off. hos you see the core is how i sent it to radiator shop. they cleaned it up, tested it, cleaned neck, and then painted it up as seen.

you want to remove these tabs ??

Thanks again Jerry, perhaps these tabs are not meant to be removed and just restored in place. I'm still going through the learning curve on my 29 so I realy appreciate your insite!
Thanks,
Chuck

Sometimes removing the mounting shroud can cause cracks in the brass tanks. It is better to have the radiator shop remove them Of course, if you ask them they will quote you a price based on the possibility that they'll have to solder up some cracks. Our radiators are so fragile that the less you attempt the better.
