Not having the exact numbers on wages, benefits and penisons on the foreign owned U.S. plants I would not attempt to compare them with GM.

When Toyota first acquired the Fremont (NUMMI) plant from GM the big complaint was working conditions and assembly procedures. GM spent thousands of dollars sending teams from other assembly plants to learn those same assembly procedures and tried to incorporate them in their other plants.
Most of the GM Mexico Plants are modern plants and the working conditions are about the same.
The benefits and wage scales are quite different.

I have no problem with the foreign owned plants in the U.S. Lets face it those jobs are filled by U.S. workers. My one complaint is the profits are returned to the Home country and the U.S. being trillions of dollars in debt is now borrowing those same profits to pay our debts.

John you are "Right On" concerning the pension fiasco.

On the news today, I see Gator (and others) have been joined by former Beatle Paul McCartney in "boycotting" China.

Different reason; but same idea.

Quite a story here, McCartney / China Link

Well, so much for the idea of introduceing a "Spay & Neuter" program in China...... I don't want to know what they do with the carcusses, saveing them for concessions at the 2008 Olympic Games?

anyone for a couple of Chinese "Ball Park Franks"? or a couple of tacos?
maybe they meow and pop when they are grilled!

Madame Goodhead, I like the suggestion about dropping e on inging is somewhat better than disgusting, but not really a priority, understanding is more a priority.... I suspect you may love Chinese food? I do also, but not domesticized fur-bearing canines and felines! Several Native American tribes consider eating canines is not disgusting, each to their own preferences!

I bet you will remember this little conversation in the event you go to China in 2008 each time you order a snack!

The U. S. government and other governments around the world have tried for many years to get the Chinese government to allow some freedom of religion (among other freedoms not allowed)...but religion isn't allowed under communism...

Maybe their government not allowing religion and the way their people treat animals are connected somehow? I think so…IMHO

PS. one of our local Chinese restaurants (big and cheap) was shut down last year for serving illegal meat and having illegal Chinese immigrants working there.

You think thats bad! I remember a bar-b-que place in Lagos, Nigeria that was shut down for serving human bar-b-que.

Two of our guys who like bar-b-que ate there and said it was good.

The employees were legal Nigerians.

I'm all for what Thumper said.

Especially if that includes some "thoughts" are best left un-said.

And even more so if that includes some "stories" are best left un-written.

Those last two posts are nothing but KRAP.....They're right in there with my buddy WMM's next-to-last one.

Offensive, racist, crude, disgusting, repugnant, repulsive et al.

No wonder we get "shut down" in here from time to time!!!

Spelling - Spelling!! KRAP is spelled CRAP!

KRAP is not a word.

Like KRAUT is not spelled with a "C".

Spell it however you want.

Doesn't change a thing.

Holy Crap. You're waving the 'spelling flag' at the wrong guy.

The point is it was nothing but krap or crap!!

Bill, what in my post do you find "Offensive, racist, crude, disgusting, repugnant, repulsive et al."

If anything I said is any of those things then the newspapers are also and the TV news casts are also and since when is the truth "Offensive, racist, crude, disgusting, repugnant, repulsive et al."

The truth is the legal defense in our courts to charges of libel and defamation.

By the way the illegal meat was horse….which is served everyday in France and other countries (western and eastern).
