That looks to be too good a piece of history to leave out in the weather. It would be 1 of the first overhead multi valved engines produced and maybe of the air cooled variety to boot. Alloy crankcase makes it even rarer to find.
I personally consider it to rare to have as a YO even though it is not CHEV or at least GM.
Still a good find and pics just the same.

Hey Tony! The remains of this Franklin have been an FO (Field Ornament) for almost 30 years. When we rescued the engine it was covered with blackberry bushes, bee nests and etc. It has also been rained on constantly during that period of time as well. Since the engine is now a YO (Yard Ornament) it is a step up, and the engine can't get any worse than it already is. Nothing will ever work again, and the fire that it went through almost three decades ago totally destroyed the alloy crankcase and just about everything else on this engine. And, I don't have space in my shop for it anyway.

Ya, it looks really cool right where it is and besides, it is a topic of conversation by everyone that visits here since the Franklin engine is about the first thing that folks see due to its "YO" location. wink laugh laugh laugh

Nothing at all on it or in it that could be used by someone restoring a Franklin?

That would be too bad... :( :( :(
