"Prototype"...... yeah, right. And ONLY $3000.00 US dollars !!

I spend $3k on a car mirror and I'll have a lot more bad luck from my wife than the seven years you're supposed get from a broken mirror !!

Yep! And, as soon as you buy it for $3,000 ten more of them will show up, in better condition, for only $150 each!  mad mad mad mad

I guess the sellers' attitude is "ask for the most" and hope there is a moron out there who will buy it. devil If he doesn't sell it for $3,000 he can always try later at a lower price. Doesn't seem right to me, but... mad mad "let the buyer beware", for sure!

I guess he's inspired by the $2000 people pay for 41 compasses and rear arm rests and rechromed grills... curse

But yeah, a few months ago a 40's fog light switch suddenly went for $120, in the next two weeks about 25 of them showed up on ebay. I got mine for $20.

Well dudes......his clock is a fake! That is not a 1939 prototype as he would lead you to believe, but it is actually a 1937-38 Chevrolet accessory mirror clock married to the wrong mirror! The 1937-38 clock face is identical to the clock face on this mirror, however, the 1937-38 clock face is oval, and the bezel on this mirror is round! Notice that the oval face on the 1937-38 clock does not even fit his mirror correctly because that mirror was made for a clock with a round face, not an oval face! No big mystery here........it's a 1937-38 clock with the wrong mirror. And.....the whole mess is probably worth about 50 to 75 bucks!

Go to this link and you will see the correct 1937-38 mirror clock and you will notice that the two clocks are identical......except for the mirror that is!

I was just ready to bid on the mirror.Thought it would look nice in my '39--now you just spoiled my evening by telling me its wrong.

Was going to sell my fender skirts, full hub caps, fog lights, front and rear center bumper guards and fresh air unit -for the down payment. flush

I really don't see any need for an old Chevy to have an old wind-up clock mirror, when you are touring you don't have time to look at a clock, what with all of the up and down hills, double-clutching and getting out of the way of Monster Diesel Pickup trucks,(right Brucie?) and reading the instructions as where to turn next!
Well anyway I have found to watch the road, the oil pressure, amp meter, Speeodo, and listen to the Roar of the Chevy Four or maybe a hot water six, and the whine of a 3 speed on the floor is so much fun I don't even have a need for a sense of time except for.... WHEN DO WE EAT????

I never wanted to punch a hole in the dash for a clock or cut down on the already small rear view mirror to make room for a clock. I have never once worried what time it was when I was driving my 32.

Too bad we couldn't rate an EBay seller before the item closes, with a scale kind of like this:

One star * Correct description, good starting price

Three stars *** Caveat emptor

Five stars ***** PT Barnum would even gag at this one

Sounds like this thread starter would rate about a 4 and a half, hmm? wink

It would not be too bad a deal if a good NOS 235 or 216 engine complete was attached!
it looked to me that the photos showed 2 different carbs, anyone else notice that?
I have a large filing cabinet drawer full of the Rochester model B carbs, just don't have any new carb boxes to picture with them!
Don't rush out to buy that one on eBay for your show 1932 it may not be the correct carb.

P.S. I am looking for a few good carbs (or parts of carbs) Rochester Carburator Assmbly #7005140, tag #5140, # cast on Throttle body #5140, # 7005604 cast on float bowl.
Thanks.
