I probably should have posted this earlier, but as some of you have noticed, our Spell Checker is not working too good. Sometimes it truncates your text and only returns about half of it back. I've lost quite a bit of writing this way and just began to accept it.. but with some of you sending me notices, I realized that your view of it is different than mine.
When I started this Chat site, I purchased a program that manages the basic data base behind it. One feature that it didn't include is a Spell Checker. After a year or so online, some of you began to pepper me with requests to include a spell checker....
After much research and some discussions with other Chat administrators, I elected to link us to a FREE service that worked fairly well with our program. Now after 3 more years of operation, our linked service is starting to show it's age.
So for now, until we decide to throw some money at our Discussion Board (aka Chat site), or until I can find an acceptable alternative, we'll have to live with this.
In the meantime there are some tricks that you can use ---
- Write your notes in Word, spellcheck it there and then cut and paste into the Chat window
- Write your note, click on the Spell Check button, see which words are misspelled, and then cancel -- don't accept the changes (this will return all of your text)
- When in doubt, open a second window and lookup the correct spelling FOR FREE at http://dictionary.com
