I'm writing to endorse passport transport, incorporated of saint louis, mo based upon our recent experience...

we contracted with them, a fedex company, to move our '30 roadster delivery from michigan to california, a distance of over 2,500 miles, at approximately $.62/mile...

passport only uses enclosed carriers, which we required because of our open cab...this essentially cost us six cents per mile more than using another company with an open carrier...if one is moving a vintage vehicle, I'd say it would be worth the extra cost to protect against the elements...

included in the total charge, which was quoted as a flat fee in advance, are all loading fees, tariffs & taxes...it also includes $100,000 maximum insurance, so long as you maintain your regular insurance policy while the vehicle is in transit...we paid nothing up front, and called the office to use a credit card to pay the total, agreed amount only after the truck was delivered to our garage...

according to passport, they own all their own carriers, and have exclusive contracts with the driver's & their tractors...

their office is pleasantly staffed and their computer system seemed to be able to track our vehicle within a state, although not pinpoint it with gps accuracy...however, in the end, our truck was delivered, as promised, per the originally stated schedule...

the driver, greg, whom we had a cellular telephone number for, was professional & friendly...we spoke several times while he was enroute, so, in a way, we did have great accuracy as to where our vehicle was and when it would arrive...

when your treasured vehicle is away from your possession & control, this ability to relax & know what's happening with those that you've entrusted it with is a terrific relief...

after contacted many transport companies, we selected passport based upon a lot of help we received from other members of this forum and the accounts of problematic experiences others have suffered that they brought to our attention...we appreciate all that those forum members have given to us, and passport for the care and service they provided...

ok epi

FYI:

When checking out the Hagerty web site I found out that they are "partners" with Passport auto shipping company. This insurance company is talked about on another string.
