We just made reservations today too. They do have rooms with 2 full size beds for the $89.00 price also. It was either that, or the kids were going to be in their sleeping bags.

Now the next decision is which car to take... One will take alot more work to get tour ready than the other.

The room rate at the DoubleTree is $ 89 for 1-4 persons. Other motels are different. Rate was negotiated 4 years ago.

Just got a status report on the DoubleTree reservations. Over 1/2 of room block is reserved. The internet link works for rooms July 2-7. If needing a room on July 1 it will be necessary to call the hotel. Suggest getting your reservations in NOW if you want to stay at the headquarters hotel.

Well Chipper, reckon We won't have to worry about having an Anniversery meet and no one showing up except you, me and a couple of other Texicans! We are getting the old cars all fixed up, polished up and new tires, a fan clutch. Now if the Rochester Quadrajet will hold unleaded and the thing stays together for 1700 miles...what with plenty of MMO, antifreeze and extra frog-skins and a couple of bat-hides and what Freon 12 is left for the A/C....Maybe we will show up maybe even driving one and toteing another..... Hi! Ho! Chevrolet!

Thanks for the heads up Chipper. I made my reservation this morning. Are you taking Cathy's Fire Truck? I finished mine last week, maybe we will have 2 '31 Fire Trucks at the meet

According to the G&D, it sounds like the 3rd and 4th would be the best two days to attend for some one not bringing a car but wants to go to the swap meet and see all the cars as it is judging day. Thanks, Michael H. Jones for the early information. I plan to be there. Hope to meet a lot of chevy guys but will be extra careful around Billy Boy and Don Boltz as the wife won't be there. Hee Hee. laugh laugh

Billy Boy Bill Barker and I will be trailering our cars to the meet with about six other club members who will be driving their cars. Sounds likw alot of fun and will be excited to see the one and only, Chipper blowing his horn, That Is If he brings It. See ya next July. :) chevy

I suggest calling the DoubleTree to find out. I don't know if the block is full or not.

My Friends and you are My Friends,

I think the best bet is the Hampton Inn on Main Street in Grand Junction. Close to shopping for the wives, food and historical sites.

They say the Hampton is brand new which should mean it is clean.

These are my thoughts, (ONLY)!

FYI,
The Hampton is about 4 miles from the DoubleTree and three years old. Very handy to downtown and the Two Rivers Convention Center where the banquet will be held. For others the DoubleTree is in process of finishing remodeling all sleeping rooms. They will be real nice and nearly new when we arrive. A few just hope that the TVs and phones stay in the bathrooms. Nice touch.

There is an empty lot behind the Holiday Inn that was owned by the same people. Maybe they can be talked into letting you park trailers there?

For those of us that are not in the loop, where is this meet? How can I keep up with where these are going to be held so that I can go,one of these years.

Hello John,

As a newcomer who is on the; I mean learning the ropes, it seems you must first join the VCCA.

Then you will receive the club magazine which tells you what is going on.

You will learn the secret handshake and learn that you must have gray hair to be in the know.(Joke)

Very much like the Chinese culture with regards to elders.

The meet is in Grand Junction, Colorado and you must be a VCCA member to participate unless you have money to spend. In which case I will pick you up in New York and be your personal escort

Hi maxamizer,

As John says, to get in the loop and get all the down and dirty news, you need to be a member of VCCA. However, that is not the only bnenefit.

If you need help in joining I will be glad to assist.

Thanks Chipper.

I would need to park my trailer and I assume a lot of others would also; so does anyone know for sure about the trailer parking details? I assume the motel would not like the trailers in their parking lot.

Should I call the different motels and ask them; don't want to be left hanging if I get a different answer when I get there then I get on a long distance phone call (paranoid, I guess).

The folks that plan the meets arrange for trailer parking. The instructions will be in the registration form and in the book you recieve at the meet.It will not be a problem.

Whats early?....we plan on arriving on Sat...have reservations for Sat. night at the Double Tree.

Chip-Then its safe to assume that the Double Tree has indoor plumbing. wink

Gator,

I just called the Hampton Inn on Main Street in Grand Junction, Colorado. The young lady at the front desk told me they have 1/4 acre of parking to accomodate trailers. Some of the parking is across the street.
There will be no problem!

Thanks for the number,Chevgene. Called Holiday just now and a room with 2 double beds was $79.00. Got mine for the night of the 4th. Wife will make it to Denver and then my son, Grandson, and maybe son-in-law from Denver will come with me. Betty said she would sure like to meet Billy Boy & Don but the trip would be too much for her. stressed laugh
