The most difficult thing will be to guess as to how many people to plan for. This will depend on the number of members near your area.Finding places for 100+ people to eat and sleep-park 50 cars, etc. can be difficult.Your first tour will be in unchartered territory - be safe and think big but do have a maximum.

Gator, Are you a member of VCCA. If you are please take time to look through back issues of the G & D and you will get more ideas of what has been done in the past relative to the tours. Also when you see a tour advertised you might send for registration information. This will give you some ideas as to cost involved.
See you down the BACK ROADS.

First joined the VCCA in the 70's, left for a while and have been back for about 3 years.
I haven't had enough time to even read the current G&D's in as much detail as I would like. Plus I only have G&D's for only the last 3 years.
If we do this thread the way we should it will be a great guide for all members to read and think about doing tours. But it will take members to help out by adding their knowledge and experiences.

Yep, and that is the same thing for the G&D. Members have to take the time to contribute. It is much easier to click on to the web site, even when you are at work, everyone in the office is the same, most of the time they really aren't being productive, they are tuned out, and web browzeing.
But just pick up a G&D and those that see you decide you don't have anything to do!

I haven't received my June G & D yet but I understand there is a very good story about the Early Six Cylinder (1929 - 1954) Tour last September in New Jersey. I'm looking forward to reading it. I was a participant but I am sure I will learn some things by reading the story.

There is an excellant 9 page story written by Theresa Chalow. If you recall she rode with different members during the tour.Reading thru the story made me fell as if I were back there again as its done so well. I would like to thank the G&D editors for allowing such a long story to be published, Theresa for writing it and making so colorful and intresting. Will also give some ideas to people that want to plan a tour. Also what to expect if attending a tour.
