I am a 2nd year member of the VCCA. I own a 74 Monte Carlo and am interested in showing this year at a couple of the National Meets. I am considering the meet in Catonsville MD in June and the meet in Pennington NJ in August.

I have been showing my vehicle in the AACA since 1999. I am familiar with their meets, judging, and award structure. However, I am not familiar with the VCCA in the same areas.

Thus, hopefully someone will be patient enough to give me a somewhat detailed explaination of what the process is for the following:

1. Meet registration (I think I have seen the meet registration forms inside of the monthly magazine.....am I correct???)

2. How many vehicles typically attend the meets that I have mentioned above.....I know that the meets are probably held in different locations each year.......but there probably is an average number or registrations based on location

3. What is the judging point structure for the VCCA. Is it similar to the AACA????

4. What class would my 74 Monte be in????

5. What is the award structure for the VCCA at the national meets. How do you progress through the award system????

If there is another area of the magazine or web site that I have missed that provides this info, I apologize.....just point me in the right direction.

I'm hoping to make plans for 2002 shows ASAP
Thanks,

John W. Harvey laugh

First of all welcome to the club!!There will be aplications in the G&D, You can contact the Area Board member who will give you the name and number to call, as far as the Judging Questions, I would ost them in the Judging Post on this page. There is also a national meet in Hartfod CT on July 14, Hope to see you there I am John with the green 60 Coupe. As far as the number of cars go the meets on the East Coast have had as many as 100+ and as low as 35. One of the Advantages on the East is that you can get your Junior Senior and Preservation in one summer. Our Judging is a little different than AACA, but the basic philosophy is the same. I wouls sugget contacting Steve Scott also in the G&D, he would be more than happy to help. Where do you live?

John,

I live in Greensburg, PA (Southwest PA). Thanks for the response. I know that there are contact numbers in G & D......just hoping to get some additional info here.......don't need to catch the individuals at home and there is no toll charges!

Can you tell me more about the Junior award and the Senior award with the VCCA.

I know there will be a judging school in the Batltimore area, even if you are not going to be a judge it will be of help understanding the system and the approach of how your car gets judged. I would suggest posting your questions then in the National Judging page this way Steve will see them and address it, toll free, also he might send you some info in the mail that may be of help.

Harvey, Steve Scott is the VCCA Judgeing chairman and he and the committee is working on a new Judgeing Handbook that should be out in March, I figure they will discuss it at the National BOD meeting in Fresno this next weekend. I have a draft copy and might be able to answer specific questions. I will re-read your post and get back with you here.
