I have two questions about the knee action shocks on my 36 Master. First, one appears to be leaking at the 'plate' on the bottom of the shock. See photo. Is there a gasket or can I just use some silicone to seal that up? Second, what type of fluid do I use to refill it?

Use hydralic jack oil (expensive) or auromatic transmission fluid.
I would suspect the fluid is coming from above.

Years ago one of my Shocks was leaking on my 34 Master. Gene suggested I tighten the large nut and fill with Jack oil. I did and it hasn't leaked since. Don't know if they leak from the bottom.

They can not leak from the bottom... that bottom plate is for the radius rods to mount to... and is not connected to the interior, where your fluid is... they usually leak from the large nut on the side where the spindle shaft comes out... and it is tightened by that big nut..... which squeezes the seal tighter around the shaft..... then fill with ATF or hydraulic oil....

And the nut dosen't have to be tightened much.
