I have a 37 Master Deluxe 2 door sedan. I am trying to determine if the 37's had a robe cord or rope on the backs of the folding front seats. I seem to remember that my Dad's old '37 had these but there are none on my '37. There are, however, screw holes in the seat backs and indentations in the old upholstery indicating something was there. I have been told that the '37's did not have these cords but there was obviously something on my seat backs.
If was looking in my 37/38 Manual of Construction to see if there was anything in there to help you but there wasn't. It does show a robe rod attached to the back of the front seat for '37 but it is a full width seat. The '38 shows a robe rope but it is also on a full width seat. I will look through some other books I have and see if I can find anything else. If I do, I will post it here.
The1937 Master DeLuxe 4 door had a metal robe rail - such as the type used in the 1936 and prior Master DeLuxe models. It was suspended on brackets and could swing out. From 1936 and up the Master Deluxe 2 doors had the cord type. This was used in 1938 and up M.D. 4 doors alos (was longer) The 1936 and 1937 M.D cords are the same. The 1938 and up had a new and improved method of mounting. The bucket seat type seats never had one, only cars with tilting seat backs.

When the picture first came up I thought that car will not have a robe cord as its a Master...note it has Master ribbon type bumpers and the thin Master accessory guards. But the dash is a Master DeLuxe and he says it has knee-action.Like the answer about the condition of the knees-tight and don't leak...would bet that they are empty. worn out, and the shock pistons are froze in place.
I realize this is an old post and I will also start a new one if I need to but I have the same question . . . I have a 37 Master Deluxe 2 door sedan that once had Robe Cord Escutcheons at one time. (Could I possibly own the same car that the original posting was about?
I was hoping someone would post pictures of what the Robe Cord and seat attachments should look like in the chance I could get them duplicated.
