No different from porta-walls, Vinyl Tops, dummy spot lights, wire spoke wheel covers, wheel covers that look like mag wheels or chrome wheels or steel wheels that look like mag wheels.. How about a fake spare tire built into the trunk lid? Or port holes in front fenders. Then there's fake side pipes, fake dual exhaust, fake louvres, fake scoops, fake antennas, fake vents, fake wood on station wagons. Most of these items have been incorporated into the design of automobiles from the factory or offered as O.E.M. accessories.
Fake is Fake. Besides some guys just dont have an extra $200.00 to spend for a battery but want the correct appearance under the hood. If it fools the judges, then shame on the judges for not paying attention.

Possibly the most interesting thing about 35Mike's post is the comment that,

"Most of these items have been incorporated into the design of automobiles from the factory or offered as O.E.M. accessories."

From the factory!! That's sure true!

It could be a fun 'exercise' to name a Chevy (or other GM car) that had one (some) of these 'features.'

For instance, "fake louvers" on the 58 Corvette hood.

"Fake scoops" on the 64 GTO hood. Fake scoop (singular)would be the 65 GTO.

"Fake vents" could be the 64 Corvette.

And so on.

Go ahead guys.....

Bill.
