Does anyone have a circuit drawing of the inside of a 3 terminal flasher? (this one)

I know where each post goes;

X goes to 6v+ via a fuse on the gas gauge

L goes inside the turn signal switch

P connects to both turnsignal indicator bulbs in the inst. cluster, then goes to connect to the lead to each front directional lamp (Right to Right and Left to left).

I am having a problem understanding what the function of the feedback circuit from each indicator bulb back to "P" is. Does it set the rate of the flasher heat strip? Is it a shunt function with the elements of the indicator and directional turn lamp acting as parallel resistors to ground?

Come on some of you General Motors Double Es help out a pore old retired Halliburton Services M.E.
