I heard a person recently ask if they needed to change the voltage regulator when they step up to a 12v system from 6v. I've always thought the answer was yes but then when I replaced the regulator on my 38 (6v) the fellow the I bought it from (rebuilds starters, generators, etc.) adjusted it to 8.1v output. If you can adjust the 6v regulator to 8.1v why can't you adjust it to the 14v or so it would need to support a 12v system? I guess that would mean 6v & 12v regulators are essentially the same. Am I full of Doo Doo here? :confused:
